Viper Alarm

Professionally installed by Tampa Bay Auto Sound
Cost: $279.95 for Alarm
        $125.00 for radar sensor
        $75.00 for actuator

Vehicle security is a top priority for me.  That is why I got SUCKERED by my dealer (Courtesy Mazda) to put in a Silencer Alarm for $400.  When I tried to get the lights to blink rather than listen to the chirp, I was told I had to "upgrade" my alarm for an ADDITIONAL $250.  A $650 alarm, and I didn't even have a siren.  Screw that.  When I asked them to remove it, they charged me $200 for removing the alarm, a 20-minute job.

The morale of this story - never ever ever ever ever buy any options from Courtesy Mazda.

My pals at Tampa Bay Auto Sound hooked me up with a Viper 500ESP Alarm, which has a whole bunch of features.  They installed a radar sensor which makes the car chirp when someone gets too close.  They installed an actuator in the driver's side door to give me keyless entry, and a couple of remotes that work from 100 feet away.  I even have an extra channel to have a remote trunk release installed in the future.
