Front Grille

I read somewhere that putting a grille up front was a good idea.  The front of the Miata has this big gaping hole where it exposes the radiator, and an errant rock could do some damange.  Why Mazda engineers neglected to put some protection is a mystery, but the aftermarket is here to fill the void.

There are tons of grilles out there, in all shapes and sizes and colors, some even have teeth painted on them to give your Miata some "personality".  Me, I just got the first grille I found from Serious Auto Accessories.

The grille is made from a black mesh with a vinyl edge which is the (almost) exact shape of the front opening of the Miata.  It is held in place by two existing screws, so no drilling is necessary.  This is good.

There is nothing to hold the grille on the bottom, so getting it straight was a bit of a challenge.  The shape also was a millimeter or two big, so some pushing and bending was in order.  The holes where the screws were supposed to line up didn't, so cutting a little bit with a wire cutter was also necessary.

The instructions were clear and concise.  All in all, not a bad mod.  You can hardly tell there is a grille there (I got the high-flow grille with larger holes).  I guess that is the point, unless you want to make a fashion statement.

I need to take a look at other options before I declare this one an absolute winner, but if you do get one, you won't be TOO disappointed.
